Description: FO creates first-ever national portrait by combining the faces of thousands of Canadians to support TFO’s “Rêve de Champlain,” six-part mini-series

Samuel de Champlain was a significant figure in Canadian history — hailed as the ‘first modern cartographer of Canada’ and an expert mariner who crossed the Atlantic 27 times amongst many other amazing feats — an interesting fact about him is that nobody really knows what he looked like.

We decided to build an immersive online experience using the latest in browser technology which allowed all Canadians to upload their own photo (or web-cam image upload). The Champlain face generator technology then combined the most recent upload and combined with all all other Canadian uploads to create a composite image of what the famed explorer might have looked like, ultimately creating the “face of Canada".

Results:
The Campaign delivered 8M+ impressions & 31,231 clicks across all digital touch points (Video, Display, Impact and Social), with thousands of Canadians uploading their photo
